Lee Berry
Issaquah WA
"For me the most exciting form of expression is the human form. I try to capture immediately the gestures and movement for the figure thru line and watercolor."
Born in Seattle, Lee graduated from the University of Washington in 1959 with a BA in commercial art, worked as a graphic illustrator for Boeing for five years, then went back to the U of W for a BA in art history.
In 1966 when her family started growing, she learned to capture the immediacy of a gesture by drawing the children at play and her husband working in the house. In 1970 she started taking figure classes and workshops from Muriam Landsdon at Bellevue Community College. She also took workshops from Carla O'Connor, Kathi Gill, Barbara Fugate and many more acclaimed artists. Lee has been the facilitator for a life drawing group continually since 1985. Currently the drawing group is on Mercer Island, WA. Her drawings and watercolors have been in local art shows including the Bellevue Art Festival and hang in many private collections. |
