Buck Braden

After receiving his B.S. Art in 1969 and then his M.A. in Art/Printmaking in 1974 from Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS, Buck Braden became a High School Art Instructor in Silver Lake, Kansas for eleven years. After his move to Oregon, Buck took Figure painting and drawing at the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland.

A self-employed artist since 1988, his paintings have been exhibited in Portland, Seattle, Salem, Ocean Shores, Coos Bay, Newport,CA, Hays, KS., Mystic, CT. and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii ... in fact a total of over 30 shows nationwide. Awards include: Best of Show, Associated Arts Juried Show in Ocean Shores, WA. in 1994 and 2000 and theAward of Excellence at the 12th Mystic Maritime International in Connecticut where jurors included William F. Buckley Jr and Duncan Robinson, the former Yale professor of art.

Buck works in figurative oil and watercolor paintings in concepts that include allegorical, metaphorical, mythic, contemporary themes, portraits and biographical portraits. He has been the Curator of the City of Tualatin Visual Chronicle since 2002.
