Amy Link
Stanwood WA
"It is my intention to establish the common thread between mankind and the natural world, through my work. My explorations in natural history, mythology and adjacent subjects have led to the development of a narrative style that refers to the stories of animal and human behavior, and their many similarities. I find these common behaviors both fascinating and profoundly comforting. By bringing these sometimes mysterious, sometimes obvious events to light, the work strives to create a universal cosmology of sorts, generating interest, understanding, and acceptance. My understainding of the artist's role in society is concisely stated by Joseph Campbell: The function of the artist is the mythologization of the environment and the world."
Amy was raised in the Ohio River Valley and attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati Museum School and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She relocated to Washington State in 1978. |
