Carrie Vielle
Spokane WA

Carrie's compositions range from realistic charcoal figures over heavily-textured surfaces to found object collage and sculpture. Most of her works address one of two themes: the human form or man's existence within nature.

"I believe that personal expression is fundamental to healthy living. In each of my works, I strive to provide an original statement, a suggestion of a human moment that aesthetically challenges conventional expectations in visual media. My primary focus in this collection of new work was to capture the character, complexity and intimacy of our moments of quiet reflection."

Carrie grew up in Victoria, B.C, in a family immersed in the arts. Her family members include fine artists, photographers/film makers, theater and film actors, writers, jazz and rock musicians and composers, all of whom enriched Carrie's art education. Carrie earned a double bachelors degree in Studio Art and Art History from Eastern Washington University, from where she also finished her Master's Degree in interdisciplinary Art History Studies.

Professionally, Carrie teaches studio art and design classes for the SFCC Interior Design Department. She also works as a tour guide for custom art and cultural workshop tours in Europe. Despite her busy schedule, Carrie makes time to create her art works for clients and designers in the community.
