My current work is borne of a fascination with the unbridled creative energy and movement which is often found primarily in a sketch. It is also a fascination for how observers see such work, how they must dig within their own subjectivity to fill in the blanks.

To capture that uncensored gesture, I use the naked line. Every other element has been discarded, even color. All that is left are black lines on that most elemental of supports, paper. I use a digital pen as a kind of 'gesture capturing device'. The hand, liberated from all fears of making a mistake or obsessions of perfection is free to explore raw, boundless, movement. I capture the fleeting moment of the sketch, the free flowing, unrehearsed lines that normally would be erased during the deliberate travail involved in producing the so-called Final work.

To better involve the viewer, I leave a lot of open space, of ambiguity, in my drawings. By exploring a sexual universe in my work, I can better coax viewers into delving deeper within themselves to give meaning to the drawing. Each one of my drawings suggests a balance between the visible and the invisible, the defined and the undefined, black and white, l'avouè et l'inavouable. I am a graphic artist and have been working with pen and ink for some 25 years. I have been working with a digital pen since 1999. I am essentially self-taught.
