Robert Gigliotti
Sedro Woolley WA
I try to approach sculpture from two different perspectives. First, I try to make the piece interesting from a strictly visual standpoint with the use of shape, repetition of shape, etc.
Secondly, I try to use symbolism and mythology to challenge the viewers' paradigms about his or her relationship with others, with our environment and with nondual Spirit.
Nondual Spirit can be called God, Tao, Buddha Nature or whatever term one prefers. It is basically the path that Buddha taught as well as the mystics of Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Vedanta Hinduism and others. My earlier work was intuitively in this direction. My newer works are more consciously in this vein. |
