Lyla Jacobsen
Kirkland WA
Lyla grew up in a farming community in Alberta, Canada. She attended a one-room elementary school and recalls the best part was riding a horse to school and art projects. It is only since retiring from Nursing that she has devoted time to painting, especially over the last two years. Her work has been shown in a number of galleries and at art shows. One of her paintings "Artichokes in Bloom" was selected by the Woodinville Garden Club for their poster, while another piece, "Celebration of Fine Arts" was selected for EAFA's 30th Annual Exhibition poster in 2005.
Lyla says," My paintings are often of scenes or objects that suddenly catch my interest, be it landscape, commonplace items about my home, or moments that tell a story. When I see it I want to paint it. Sometimes the paintings are based on a memory from childhood. My personal motto is: 'Never leave home without my sketch book'.". |
