Unclad 2006, the Art & the Artists
Karilyn Kaye
Stanwood WA

An artist who primarily paints with acrylics on canvas, I am a colorist above all. My paintings and my colors are chosen from a place deep inside. Meditation helps me to find my voice as it directs me.

I was born in the South and lived in Europe and many other places before settling in Washington in 1992. I took art classes in public school and won my first First Place award at the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art at 8 years old. I won a scholarship after high school to study art at Judson College, Marion, Alabama.

When my children were in school, I mostly painted to earn money for their prom dresses, etc. After they left home, I fulfilled my goal to become an award winning tile artist and a china painter. About five years ago, I decided to pick up my brush. canvas and acrylics again to return to Fine Art after a long bout with ovarian cancer.

Since then I have won several awards, have my art in both private and corporate spaces both nationally and internationally. I recently won the Stanwood-Camano Foundation Grant to study with Robert Burridge in Palm Springs, California, March 2007.
