Andrea K. Lawson

Andrea Lawson was born in Hollywood California. She received her B.A. from the University of California at Santa Cruz , where she studied painting , sculpture and intaglio printmaking. Andrea is a member of the Corvidae Press in Port Townsend, Washington. While receiving an MFA in Painting from Parsons School of Design, New School of Social Research, New York, NY, Andrea studied figurative painting from the New York School artists: Paul Resika, Leland Bell, John Heliker and Rosemary Beck. One of her earliest and most influential teachers was the Los Angeles based, Abstract Expressionist painter, Selma Moskowitz.

Andrea Lawson's work combines expressionist gestures with an observation of nature and humanity. Andrea teaches classes and workshops to all ages. One of her most recent workshops, 'The Voyage of Creativityî, was taught aboard the historic schooner, Martha. Her studio overlooks The Port Townsend Bay where she lives with her husband, Michael Hamilton, a furniture designer and their two daughters.
