Rebecca Woods
Portland OR
Rebecca Woods is an artist that strives for a sense of theme or narrative in her work, and is intrigued by Art as our first language of expression. Exploring that shared symbolism while carrying the feeling of nature in a man-made culture is what she aspires to in her work.
Rebecca has worked as an illustrator, sculptor, doll maker, and co-creator of Raw Visceralia at PNCA (Pacific Northwest College of Art). Her illustrated work has been published worldwide in a variety of publications including comics and magazines.
She is currently exploring oils on wood panels and the different effects of various media on the wood surface. Along with watercolor for smudged effects, hand carved lino blocks for prints, oil paints are used for texture and depth, and graphite brings softness to figures.
"Mixing elements of appreciation for the human form, collage, and 60's pulp cover illustration I hope to bring a variety of texture and emotion to my work."
Being the mother of two young children also keeps her pretty busy (and happy) these days.
